  The new KTM 50's 2013 - 2024 come with a great innovative clutch assembly. This clutch is adjustable and can be upgraded with Nihilo Concepts HD springs and Coated Clutch Pins (sold separately). However, one part of the clutch needed a little help, so the engineers at Nihilo went to work to improve it even further.

  Built into the KTM 50 clutch assembly is a cushioning system designed to soften the hard hit when engaging at high RPM's. This cushioning system consists of two opposing beveled washers between the gear and basket. When the clutch engages, these spring washers compress and take away the initial hard hit. The KTM engineers did this to avoid excessive stress to the rear hub and sprockets. Many of you might remember the issues years ago with the KTM 50 rear hubs breaking from the lack of a cushioning system.

  The problem with this system is, when it gets hot, it can wear out and cause the clutch to slip. Until now, the only way to fix the weak washers was to purchase an entire new assembly at almost $600.00. Nihilo has designed a thicker and stronger spring washer made from high-quality steel that will not sack out when exposed to heat like the thin stock washer and will only cost you $19.95.

  • Installation is simple, just disassemble the gear from the basket and replace one of the washers with the new stronger and thicker Nihilo washer.
  • Your clutch will come back to life and still maintain the cushioning effect needed to avoid hub and sprocket damage.
  • Next time your clutch is not performing up to par, check the cushion drive system you may need the Nihilo KTM 50 Clutch washer.
